Hanover Has New Communications System
A few minutes after 3 a.m. on August 25, calls were ‘cut over’ from the old radio system to the new state-of-the-art digital system, located in the new Communications Center. There were no significant ‘glitches’, bringing a sigh of relief from everyone involved. “I wouldn’t say I was nervous – we had done an awful lot of testing – but I didn’t know what to expect from the 911 cutover,” said Phil Heins, Director of Hanover’s Emergency Communications Department. “We had both centers staffed the whole time. It went extremely well – we had only one test call that went into the old center instead. We also picked an excellent night to cut over – it was very slow. By Wednesday afternoon, we were confident enough to close the old center and now everyone is in the new center and everything is going smoothly.” Special Notices2010/2011 Rabies Prevention Clinics
